2020 National Electrical Code — Ava amendment (#12 AWG)

Sec. 18-54 adopts the 2020 National Electrical Code. Ava amendment (staff quote this often): “Ava city code does not allow electric wiring under #12 AWG.” Lighting circuits that the NEC would allow on 14 AWG must be 12 AWG in Ava. Service, grounding, GFCI/AFCI, and wet-location rules follow NEC 2020 unless a later Ava ordinance amends them. Check Chapter 18 and any uncodified ordinances after 1163.
